We are all used to seeing updates from SAP and its partners about new functions in the core solution, but little is published about the excellent new features in the SAP IBP Excel Add-In which makes the user experience much more enjoyable.
So here we will look at the excellent new features seen in the latest Excel Add-In
If you are familiar with IBP, then you will know that if you wanted to rename a template, your only option was to open the template, save it as a new template and then delete the old one. Not any more!
With the 2102.2.0 version of the SAP IBP Excel Add-In you can now very easily rename the following objects using the Organize option:
Planning view templates, favorites and folders
Attribute-based and Value-based planning filters
Master data favorites
Planning view templates, favorites and folders
As you can see above there is now a pencil icon displayed for changing the names of templates or folders.
The exact same function can also be used for Favorites from the Excel Ribbon.
Attribute-based and Value-based planning filters
We can also see the option to Organize Planning Filters on the Excel Ribbon
This provides the option to change the names of the Planning Filters using the pencil icon.
For Value-based Filters the Organize option is available in the editing view of the worksheet
Click on Organize...
.. edit the names of your Value-based Filters using the Pencil Icon
Master data favorites
We can also change the names of Master Data Favorites and Folders, just the same as we can with Templates directly from the Excel Ribbon. Much simpler than the existing method of creating a new favorite and deleting the old one
Summary
While these are not linked directly to any functionality, I really believe these updates reflect on the maturity of the product and the benefits you can get from using the SAP Customer Influence process. Some of these functions have been requested by and then voted for by current IBP Customers. It is very encouraging to see these small details, which did cause minor issues with the user experience, getting resolved.
